Meet AnnaSophia...

This little miss is the reason my opportunity to work with the American Heart Association came about. Her Dad used to work with my mom. When AnnaSophia was about 4 months old I started following her blog. My heart immediatly melted for her and her family. I prayed for them often, cried for them, and rejoiced with them when things finally looked promising for this little girl's life. She is a miracle, in every sense of the word.

But here's the big picture of her story.

At nine days old, AnnaSophia was diagnosed with an interupted aortic arch, a large ventricular septal defect, an atrial septal defect, and a bicuspid aortic valve.

At 11 days old she underwent her first open heart surgery.

Not long after that she was diagnosed with heart failure. She was at risk of going into cardiac arrest.

She was put on a list for a heart transplant.

On July 11, 2008, at almost 6 months old, AnnaSophia had a heart transplant.

That afternoon, she went into cardiac arrest. The doctors revived her with CPR.

The months following the transplant she faced even more challenges. Her body began to reject her heart. She developed a very dangerous virus (CMV).

AnnaSophia has had 12 surgical procedures. She has 31 scars.

But what do you see when you look at her?

Pure joy. Laughter. Evidence of a miracle. Strength. Faith. Smiles. Love.

That's AnnaSophia.

to AnnaSophia It was fantastic to finally meet you. You are one special little girl. God has amazing plans for your life. Even at the age of 2 you have touched the lives of so many. I count it a blessing to be one of those lives. Thank you, little miss...much love to you!!!
